NEW MEMBERS:

The dojo is always open to any individuals interested in learning more about Goju Ryu karate. As well as improving your general level of fitness, martial arts such as  Goju Ryu karate improves mental focus, increases attention span and awareness, as well as developing effective self-defence skills.

How fit do you need to be before joining?

Karate is an exacting physical discipline that requires stamina, co-ordinated body movement and great strength. No one expects a child to have any of these attributes when they first walk into the dojo. Lessons are designed to gradually build physical fitness and allow the student to enjoy the whole experience of learning each new karate technique. You will be surprised at just how soon you will notice the benefits of joining the club. Improved fitness, stamina, movement co-ordination and discipline are all part of the mix we tend to see develop in our students, not to mention creating a sense of comaraderie that can last a life time.

What standard of teaching can I expect?

Our club is affiliated to the EGKA, and there are several other similar Goju-Ryu clubs in the area. We frequently join these clubs for joint training sessions and competitions that just add a new dimension to developing minds and aspirations. Liverpool and the surrounding areas are homes to some of the highest graded masters of Goju-Ryu karate outside of Japan, and we are fortunate to have such a knowledge base on our doorstep. Our dojo is led by Sensei George who holds a senior IOGKF 4th Dan grade, which will ensure the standard of teaching i svery high indeed.

What ages do we accept for training?

Junior students:       6 to 16 years

How do I join?

Telephone Sensei George on 0151 488 6263 or 07513 950040. Alternatively, e-mail Sensei to arrange a no-obligation visit.

The idea is to allow our prospective new members to see for themselves and experience what goes on in a normal lesson.  You will be invited to sit at the rear of the dojo and just watch a class to get an idea of what Goju Ryu karate is all about.

We know the hardest step to take is to actual join in. All you have to remember is that every black belt started off with two left feet, doubting if they would ever attain the skill and speed of the black belts lined up in front of them. With dilgent training ... you can!

Rather than watch, you will be most welcome to join in the class on your first visit. You will need to wear loose clothing such as a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. Don’t worry about joining in, an instructor will be close at hand to assist you during the warm up and will remain with you for the duration of the lesson. Please note you should never wear shoes in the dojo.

Parents of junior students are welcome to stay and watch the class.
